Recovery and Resolution Plans: emerging requirements and strategies for tackling distressed situations
Recovery and Resolution Plans (RRPs) have been attracting a lot of regulatory attention of late.
- Globally, we have seen requirements for RRPs come into force for Global Systemically Important Insurers (G-SIIs) as well as across many parts of the banking industry.
- In Europe, EIOPA has included an operational objective in relation to its focus on RRPs in its Annual Work Programme for 2016.
- Closer to home, Sylvia Cronin, the Director of Insurance Supervisions at the Central Bank of Ireland, noted at the European Insurance Forum in March 2015 that: “Recovery and resolution for insurers is an area of interest for the Central Bank, particularly during 2016.
Will regulators begin to require all (re)insurance companies to draft RRPs or are RRPs simply a natural follow-on from the ORSA and good risk management?
In our presentation, we will discuss the latest developments in relation to RRPs, explore the available tool-kit, and provide insights into real-life situations through the use of colourful case studies involving different strategies that have been implemented in practice around the world.
