In search of better investment products for confused customers
Over 80% of the funds available to Irish policyholders, including virtually all Managed Funds, are now categorised as high or very high risk. John Lyons reflects on the difficulties in achieving good investment returns for policyholders, reviews recent literature on market behaviour and some of the latest products, and asks if we are effectively using all of the information available to us.

John Lyons was Managing Director of Canada Life Europe from 1999 to 2009 and led its development in the German market . Previous roles included Appointed Actuary and Head of Broker Sales in Canada Life Ireland. He has been involved in product development all his career. He is now a non-executive director.
