R for actuaries: Data Processing with R
The R programming language is widely used among statisticians and data miners for developing statistical software and data analysis. In the past number of years it has grown significantly in popularity, with the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries set to introduce it into the 2019 examination syllabus. This talk will be the fourth in a series of R talks organised by the Society of Actuaries in Ireland with focus on data processing.
Data processing has always been a part of the Actuary’s work, whether this be analysing past experience for trends or preparing inforce files for modelling. As computers have advanced so too has the volume of data. By looking at real life examples the speaker will investigate the different aspects of data processing and present the benefits of using R compared to the existing tool set.
