Investment Manager Selection – a focus on alternative investment
The presentation will address the importance of a robust fund selection and deselection process both for active and passive investments. It will discuss the factors to be considered in developing this process and the challenges presented in this regard by alternative assets such as private equity, real estate, hedge funds, infrastructure funds and commodities.

Mary Cahill is a member of the Global Investment Selection team at Davy. She joined Davy in 2007 to focus specifically on the monitoring and development of the alternative asset programme at Davy. She is a member of the Davy UK Investment Committee and the Davy Advisory Committee. She is a graduate of DCU where she received a BSc in Financial and Actuarial Mathematics and is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland.
Ciara Connolly is also a member of the Global Investment Selection team at Davy. She joined Davy in 2010 from University College Cork where she was a Lecturer in Accounting and Finance. Her research interests at the university focused on hedge fund strategies and performance evaluation and this research has featured in the Journal of Alternative Investments. Ciara joined Davy to focus on Davy’s hedge fund and alternatives program. She is a graduate of University College Cork where she received a BSc in Accounting and MBS in Accounting and Corporate Finance. Ciara recently successfully completed the CFA Charterholder examinations.
