Trust Workshop (Cross-practice Professionalism) - Re-run

The Society’s Flourishing Actuary Working Group is dedicated to developing initiatives that cultivate the personal and professional qualities that enable members to thrive beyond their technical expertise. Following on from the Confidence Workshop held earlier this year, the group is now pleased to present a second session focused on the theme of Trust. This workshop will also classify as “Professionalism” for CPD purposes.

This workshop will explore the multifaceted concept of trust and its critical relevance to actuaries in professional, organisational, and team contexts. The aim is to deepen participants' understanding of trust, how it functions, and the ethical responsibilities it entails, while offering opportunities to apply insights through discussion and case-based learning. Led by Dr. Jim Baxter, a renowned expert in applied ethics and professional ethics from the University of Leeds, participants will work through realistic case studies that prompt reflection and discussion on questions such as:

  • What behaviours foster or undermine trust within a team?
  • What leadership responsibilities are associated with cultivating and protecting trust?
  • How can actuarial teams build trust with wider organisational stakeholders?
  • What are the challenges for remaining trustworthy while breaking into new fields of work?

Dr. Baxter's extensive experience in ethical research and training will provide invaluable insights, ensuring that attendees leave with practical strategies for building and maintaining trust in their professional environments.

Please note: This Professionalism Workshop is being run twice to maximise the number of places available to members so please ensure that you have only booked for one workshop.
