Set against a rapidly changing economic, demographic and political environment, insurers and reinsurers are evolving the way insurance works and how they are interacting with both customers and distributors. From product innovation and underwriting developments to embracing new powerful data driven tools and the transformation of customer experiences, the industry is helping to navigate increasingly complex risks, meet new demands and empower customers.
The Life Reinsurance and Innovation committee are proud to present a three-part series of webinars over the coming weeks examining this topic of evolution within the life insurance industry. As part of this, we will get insights from the ESRI, have panel discussions with experts from within both the Irish and UK markets as well as exploring what innovation is happening in other markets outside of Europe.
The second part of this series will showcase examples of innovation in the life and health insurance industry in Asia. Presentations will be followed by a panel discussion.
Otto Ho joined RGA in 2021 and is currently the SVP, Chief Pricing Actuary for Asia Pacific. He looks after reinsurance pricing, experience studies and strategic projects for RGA Asia, covering markets including China, Hong Kong, Japan, India and South-east Asia. Otto has a combined 24 years of actuarial experience working in local and regional offices of direct insurers, reinsurance and consultancy. He is a fellow member of Society of Actuaries and Actuarial Society of Hong Kong. He is also a Professional Risk Manager under PRMIA. In addition, he currently serves in the Research Executive Committee of the Society of Actuaries.
Bryce Sheppard is a Chartered Actuary with nearly two decades of international experience across Australia, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Asia, and now Europe. While his technical foundation lies in Pricing, the majority of his career has been dedicated to Business Development—partnering with clients to co-create solutions that drive growth and resilience. Over time, his remit has expanded to include Product & Proposition Development, blending commercial insight with innovation. In his current role as Head of Client Solutions, Bryce leads the delivery of both risk and capital reinsurance solutions tailored to client needs. He holds a Bachelor of Science with Honours in Bioinformatics and a Master’s in Business Management, specialising in Leadership and Innovation. His dissertation focused on the drivers of Organisational Effectiveness.
Dori Dong is Head of Management Support and Innovation at Hannover Re Shanghai Branch, supporting business strategy development and leading innovative projects to align with emerging market trends. With six years of experience as a Product Actuary in Hannover Re, she co-developed flagship insurance products in collaboration with leading Chinese insurers. In her current role, Dori identifies market opportunities, fosters partnerships with Insurtechs, and implements scalable solutions to drive business growth. Since 2025, she has facilitated the Asia Innovation Structure & Product Working Group within the company, supporting cross-regional knowledge exchange on reinsurance structures and product innovations across Asian and global markets. Dori holds a Master’s degree in Actuarial Science and is based in Shanghai.
