Announcement from Irish Institute of Pensions Management:
Ian Slattery (IIPM Vice-President) will be joined by Alex Chartres, Fund Manager from Ruffer Investments to bring you through series of concepts and topics that are affecting pension scheme investments in Ireland today. Alex will focus on the macro: the geopolitical events and trends which are impacting global investment markets and pension scheme returns. Ian will then move down through to the micro by presenting a series of investment concepts and ideas, drawn from the ranks of the Institute’s Fellows, specific to Irish pension schemes.

Alexander Chartres
Alexander joined Ruffer in 2010 after graduating from Newcastle University with a first class honours degree in history and politics. In 2012, he became a member of the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment. He specialises in geopolitics and its investment implications, with a particular focus on European politics and US-China relations. He is co-manager of two of Ruffer‘s flagship funds.
Ian Slattery
Ian joined Zurich in 2013. Ian’s current role is as an Investment Consultant where his main responsibilities include producing investment commentary and insights, meeting with customers, and speaking at Zurich and Industry events. He is an Associate of the Irish Institute for Pensions Management, a CFA® Charterholder, a CAIA® Charterholder, and holds a Masters in Economic Policy Studies from Trinity College, Dublin
