This session will cover the medical aspects of climate change, a continuation of Irene Merk’s paper presented as part of the series last year, and will also include an update on the expectations for Irish (re)insurers.
Dr. Sonal Bagul from SCOR and Sinéad Clarke from Milliman will be presenting. The event will be chaired by Svilena Dimitrova from the Life Reinsurance & Life Innovation Committee.

Sinead Clarke is a principal in the Dublin office working in the Life and Health Practices. Sinead has almost 15 years of experience working in actuarial valuation teams for a wide variety of clients, including unit linked insurers and non-life insurers. She is an expert on the Solvency II requirements of the Actuarial Function and the CBI’s Domestic Solvency Regime. Sinead’s experience includes a wide range of actuarial work for both domestic and cross-border insurance companies in Ireland, with a focus on Solvency II (Pillar I, II, and III), embedded value, financial projections, and capital management. She has also worked on a number of mergers and acquisition projects and portfolio transfers. She has also worked on the new licence application for a number of insurance start-ups in the Irish market. Sinead's education is in BAFS, from University College Dublin.
Dr Sonal Bagul is Head of Underwriting & Claims for Asia at SCOR Life & Health with close to two decades of rich experience in (Re)insurance industry. In his capacity of currently in role of technical leadership he focusses on key Underwriting & Claims initiatives that include product development, building stronger technical community for Underwriting & Claims practices, enables collaboration and holistic consideration across key technical disciplines. In his career span he has also served as Global and Regional Medical Officer for a reputed reinsurance company based out of Zurich, Bangalore and Singapore. Dr Sonal has keen interest in insurance medicine and has appeared as an avid speaker at various industry events like ICLAM & AIMA. Dr Sonal has been member of Academy of Insurance Medicine of Asia (AIMA) and American Academy of Insurance Medicine (AAIM). He holds a Degree in Medicine from University of Mumbai, India.
