The "Top of the Quants" Hackathon comes to Ireland

Announcements from the CFA and Bloomburg organisers: The BQuant Hackathon (Ireland)  is your chance to put your skills to the test on the cutting edge of tech innovation!

It's a chance to learn to code, build and test a working prototype of a financial idea or application. You can work individually or collaborate with a team. Each individual/team has the same amount of time to code and build and will then present their prototype to all participants. A vote among participants and the judges will determine the winner.

You will have access to and use Bloomberg’s next-generation Python-based analysis platform, BQuant. Bloomberg experts will guide you, and you'll have access to BQuant through the Bloomberg terminal.

Over the next few weeks, your team will brainstorm business problems and create an application to solve them with Bloomberg’s next-generation Python-based analysis platform, BQuant. The experts will guide you, until the final day when you’ll present your application for a chance at our ultimate accolade: the “Top of the Quants” trophy.

What can you create with BQuant? Almost anything! You have the freedom to build tools across the entire equity and credit spectrum, from the macro all the way down to the company or bond level, from economic scoring models to credit peers curve analyses.

The hackathon is open to all. Please view the FAQs for more details.

The competition is open to all, so every level is welcome.

Throughout the competition you will receive expert advice from  Bloomberg BQuant professionals and learn new skills that are in big demand in the finance sector.

What is a hackathon? A hackathon is an event to get your creative juices flowing; work by yourself or collaborate as a team to code and test a working prototype of a financial idea or application. All participants have the same amount of time to code and build, focusing your energy over a short period of time. Afterwards, you present your idea and prototype to everyone participating and then vote on the best!

Happy coding — and good luck!
