Current activities in developing actuaries
The purpose of this webinar is to inform all interested actuaries on current activities of the AAE Education Committee, namely:
- Importance of ethical aspects of the actuarial education
- The final report of the CPD Task Force (joint initiative of the Education Committee and Professionalism Committee) with clear recommendations for a future CPD strategy of the AAE

09:05 – 09:50: The Ethical Education of Actuaries - Instruction on Character Formation Speaker: Colm Fitzgerald, member of the AAE Education Committee
Colm will present on a current subject on the agenda of the AAE Education Committee - the ethical element of actuarial education. Colm will present in favour of adding more direct instruction on character formation into the ethical curriculum of actuarial education. There has been questioning of the ethical foundation of actuarial work in recent years, from both inside and outside of the profession. Colm will review the reasons for the existence of this ethical foundation and outline some opportunities it presents for the profession should we choose to build upon it.
09:50 - 10:15: The basics for further development of the AAE CPD Strategy. Speaker: Rafael Moreno Ruiz, Vice-chairperson of the AAE Education Committee, Chairperson of the CPD Task Force
The CPD Task Force has finalised its report on the review of the AAE CPD Strategy after receiving feedback from the Member Associations’ delegates in the joint meeting of the Education and Professionalism Committees held on 2 April. Rafael will present the main findings and conclusions of the Task Force as set out in the report: i) the aim of CPD; ii) principles of CPD, iii) possible approaches to CPD, and iv) proposals for further development of the AAE CPD strategy.
