From January 2020, firms that have with profits business are required by the CBI to have a With-Profits Operating Principles document and to report annually on compliance with it, starting with a report for 2019. Two practitioners, David O'Connor and Liam O'Keeffe give their perspective on this new requirement
David O’Connor
David is a senior life actuary with over 20 years’ experience working in domestic, offshore, cross border and international life insurance for various companies in the Isle of Man, UK and Ireland. He is currently working on IFRS 17 implementation and has previously worked on a wide variety of tasks including Solvency II, Product Governance, Value for Money testing, Policy Admin System Migration, Financial and Regulatory Reporting and Product Development.
Liam O’Keeffe
Liam is Head of Actuarial and Chief Risk Officer for Canada Life Europe since 2012. Canada Life Europe sells business exclusively in Germany. Prior to 2012, Liam worked for several Irish domestic and cross border life assurance companies in a variety of actuarial, risk, administration and IS senior management roles. Liam is a graduate of Trinity College Dublin.
