ESG – Why bother?
The Society has arranged an event in conjunction with Climate Week to introduce members to Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) investment issues. Legislation due to be introduced in the near future will require pension scheme trustees to consider whether to take ESG issues into account in determining their investment strategy.
The event will take place on Monday 5th November 2018 from 11.00 to 12.30 at the Royal College of Physicians, Kildare Street, Dublin 2. Eimear Toomey of Sustainalytics – a recognised leader in ESG research - will provide a high-level overview of why people are considering ESG (a focus on the bigger picture and macro issues), together with an outline of the key approaches and terms used, followed by some case studies on Responsible Investment in practice.
As numbers will be limited, the event will be open to members only and there will be no charge. Lunch will be provided after the event, following which members have the opportunity to attend the launch at 2pm of the SIF Ireland Responsible Investment State of Play survey report and meet Fearless Girl!
This event is jointly organised by the Society and Skillnet Ireland, supported by Irish Life Investment Managers.
