Automatic Enrolment including a UK Perspective
The Irish Institute of Pensions Management (IIPM) will host a seminar on "Automatic Enrolment including a UK Perspective" which will take place on Wednesday, 3rd October at 5.00pm.
Robert Nicholson and Tim Middleton will both speak on the day.
Robert Nicholson, AE Programme Management Office at DEASP
Robert Nicholson will give an update from the Auto Enrolment Programme Management Office on the strawman public consultation and an opportunity for discussion and to provide feedback on the proposal.
Robert was previously a Principal Officer in Pensions Policy Unit of the Department of Employment Affairs and Social Protection and was responsible for managing the reform development process which culminated in the Government’s publication of the ‘Roadmap for Pensions Reform 2018-2023’.
Following the Government’s confirmation of its intention to develop and introduce a new Automatic Enrolment (AE) system for those without supplementary retirement savings, Robert leads the newly established ‘AE Programme Management Office’. Having recently published ‘A Strawman Proposal for Automatic Enrolment’, this office is now managing the process of public consultation and the overall project to develop AE. This includes establishing the evidence base required to underpin future Government decisions regarding the intended operational framework and design of the system.
Tim Middleton, Technical Consultant at Pensions Management Institute London
Tim Middleton will give an update on Auto Enrolment from a UK perspective. Tim has worked in the pensions industry since 1987. His roles have covered consultancy with Bacon & Woodrow (now Aon Hewitt), Mercer and Barnett Waddingham. He is currently Technical Consultant for the Pensions Management Institute (PMI), where he works extensively on the External Affairs Committee and provides input into PMI’s education programme. He also writes frequently for the pensions press. He is a Fellow of the PMI and holds the CII’s Diploma in Financial Planning. He is a past chairman of the PMI’s London Group.
