ESG investing – are you ready?

From Policy to Legislation. For pension funds and (potentially) insurance companies within EU Member States, under the IORP II Directive, there will be a new obligation to take into account the long-term impact of Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) factors on investment decisions. EU Member States have until 13 January 2019 to incorporate the Directive into national legislation.

The introduction of this legislation is indicative of the standardisation of integrating ESG into investments across the whole investment community. This session, delivered by BNP Paribas Asset Management’s Investment Academy, offers an introduction to ESG in investments to help you understand what this means for investors and what they need to do now.

The speaker is BNP Paribas Asset Management’s Vera Hegarty. Vera is responsible for Institutional investment clients where there is often a natural alignment of the sustainability of investments with longer-term investment horizons. BNP Paribas Asset Management is a founding signatory of the United Nations-backed Principles for Responsible Investing.
