Directors Interest Group meeting
This event is open to Fellows or Associates who are currently, or in the recent past have been, Executive or Non-Executive Directors of financial institutions, and to actuaries who aspire to become INEDs in financial institutions. We have a registered list of people who fall into one of these categories and are interested in attending events.
Following on a successful meeting in January at which we welcomed Evelyn Bourke, our next Directors' Interest Group meeting will take place on June 16th. The meeting will cover the topic of Operational Risk. This is one of the less defined elements of Solvency II and arguably the least tangible element of insurance company risk management. The Leadership Group feel that it is a subject which lends itself well to a facilitated discussion in this forum.
We are fortunate to have two experienced risk management exponents to speak to us on this subject.
Francis Coll is Chief Risk Officer with New Ireland Assurance. He was previously Head of Compliance & Risk for Irish Life Financial Services, the Retail Division of Irish Life, and has held senior actuarial roles across pricing and financial reporting disciplines. Francis is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland and holds a BA from Trinity College Dublin and an MBA from Dublin City University.
Tom Donlon is a Director of Willis Towers Watson and he leads the P&C practice in Ireland. He has served as Executive Director, Chief Risk Officer, Signing Actuary and Consulting Actuary, both in Ireland and abroad. Tom is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland, a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (“CERA”) and currently chairs the Society of Actuaries in Ireland’s ERM Committee.
Francis and Tom specialise in life and non-life insurance respectively and will be able to provide insights into the issue as it affects both.
We hope also that attendees will take some time to share thoughts over a drink afterwards.
