LDI Strategies in Ireland – Challenges and Opportunities

The Retirement Actuary of the Future working party identified that there was likely to be increasing opportunities for actuaries to provide investment advice to defined benefit schemes.  As part of the implementation of the discussion paper recommendations, a CPD event focused on defined benefit scheme investment strategies has been arranged.

Liability driven investment strategies have been slow to gain traction in Ireland in the same way they have in the UK.

Darragh Kirwan will present some of the challenges from a Scheme Actuary viewpoint followed by a presentation from Padraig Flanagan showing how these challenges can be overcome and why LDI should be embraced more widely by the Irish market.
