Pension Risk Management Forum

Earlier this year, a working group was tasked by the Society to help members increase their understanding of risk management as it applies to pension funds, so that they are well positioned to advise their clients and to serve the public interest. The working group has also developed materials as a foundation upon which to build or further enhance a risk management framework.

Drawing on the work of this group, and in the context of recent regulatory developments at both a domestic and European level, members of the working party will explore:

  • Regulatory context and European developments – Sarah Fee
  • Risk management in other areas of actuarial practice – Eoin Kennedy
  • Suggested risk management framework for pension schemes – Paul Torsney
  • Practical implementation for Irish pension schemes – Emmet Leahy

These  presentations will be followed by a panel discussion/Q&A session drawing on practical risk management insights from a corporate pension manager (Patrick McKenna, Pfizer Ireland, FSAI ) and a professional trustee (John Feely, Trustee Principles, FSAI).
