The New Agenda on Ageing – Making Ireland the best country to grow old in

The keynote speaker is Prof David Bloom, Director for the Global Demography of Aging Programme in Harvard and Chairman of the World Economic Forum, Global Ageing Council.  Using the evidence from his extensive research, he elaborates the opportunities and challenges of an ageing population for societies and governments and demonstrates how a country like Ireland can gain ‘competitive advantage’ by planning now for the changes needed.  He is followed by Anne Connolly, Director of the Ageing Well Network, who will outline the key findings of the AWN report “The New Agenda on Ageing”.  Prof Frances Ruane, Director ESRI will respond to both presentations, exploring the implications for national policy.
