Actuarial Economic Forecasting

Colm will give a presentation on the application of actuarial theory and techniques to economic forecasting. He calls this 'Actuarial Economic Forecasting'. The work has applications in the areas of economic forecasting (especially short term economic forecasting) and for financial market traders. In particular, Colm will highlight the use of these techniques in predicting the outcome of the monthly employment report in the US. He will also briefly cover the application to other economic variables. Colm has been developing these applications or the last 5 years, including during his time as Head of Quantitative Trading in Bank of Ireland Global Markets.
