SAI Running Club

The Member Engagement Committee invites all members, regardless of their athletic ability, to express their interest in helping establish a SAI running community

Who should get involved?  We welcome input from anyone! Whether you are an experienced athlete, a casual runner, someone starting with couch to 5k, or even if you don’t run or jog (yet!), we want to hear from you!

What can you contribute? We are currently in the planning phase and are eager to gauge interest and gather ideas and suggestions.  We are looking for willing volunteers to form a small committee to develop these ideas and encourage active participation across our membership profile.

Why should you get involved? Our aim is to create a friendly, supportive, and inclusive running community.  No doubt fostering healthy competition (with fair grading!) among actuarial colleagues while promoting fitness!

Where will we run and what might the format be?  We expect there are many actuaries already participating in weekly Park runs and 5k races across Ireland.  Our goal is to initially kick off community league tables that celebrate the best age graded performances, most improved and fastest actuaries in Ireland 😊

As the community grows, hopefully we can target a couple of city centre 5k races each year with a promise of refreshments and detailed analysis of PBs and failed pacing strategies guaranteed!

If demand allows, we might expand to include a half/marathon series, and an end of year awards might be necessary also!

How can you participate? Please register your interest to help build our running community by emailing SAI Info info@actuaries.ie by May 15th.   Please state if you would like to join the SAI running committee or if you are simply keen to hear more about the initiative.
