The Society has prepared a guide that aims to explain the professional requirements placed on its members (and other stakeholders), why it does this and how these professional requirements are structured.

It also aims to help any members who are developing those requirements, by making clear our objectives. The paper addresses: -

The International Actuarial Association (IAA) is pleased to announce the publication of the paper “Deriving Value from ORSA - Board Perspective” developed by the Joint ORSA Subcommittee of the IAA’s Insurance Regulation and Enterprise and Financial Risk Committees.

On 10th October 2014, the European Commission adopted a Delegated Act containing implementing rules for Solvency II. This will enter into force once the European Parliament and Council have both approved it, following their scrutiny, for which a maximum period of 6 months can be taken.

The Actuarial Association of Europe issued the following press release today:

The Society of Actuaries in Ireland has today responded to the Central Bank of Ireland “Consultation on Requirements for Reserving and Pricing for Non-Life Insurers and Reinsurers” (Consultation Paper CP 73).   

The Society supports many aspects of the proposals, such as the improved governance of the reserving process for non-life direct insurance business.

EIOPA Press Release:

The European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) has launched a public consultation on Guidelines on preparing for Solvency II.

The Groupe Consultatif Actuariel Européen has published a paper titled “Comparison of the Regulatory Approach in Insurance and Banking in the Context of Solvency II”.  The principal author is Mairead O’Shea, a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries in Ireland.
