This isn't just a competition, it's where reputations are made, and the future leaders of the actuarial world emerge! Will you rise to the challenge?

Don't calculate the odds. Become the odds.

You can view the (IAA/AAI) promotional YouTube video here.

Competition Theme:

The YAWC Theme is aligned with the ICA 2026 theme: “Tradition, Diversity and Innovation”. This is particularly relevant for emerging professionals who benefit from the existence of long-established skills while also addressing the challenges and opportunities afforded by global advances in technology and developments in society.  Participants are encouraged to provide a broad interpretation of the theme. For example, submissions could address issues such as, but not limited to:

  • How actuaries can contribute to a better society
  • New product: future specific usage, new features etc.
  • Climate Change and Sustainability issues: how actuaries might contribute to knowledge in this area
  • Innovative ways of tackling some big issues
  • New areas in which actuarial skills are being used
  • Application of data analytics, artificial intelligence, and machine learning
  • An Employers Dilemma: Data Scientists or Actuaries
  • The Actuaries role in Cybersecurity
  • Diversity enhances problem-solving and innovation
  • Views on the ethical considerations related to data and technology.

Participants are highly encouraged to be creative, communicating their ideas in interesting and inspiring ways. Graphics, music or humor are certainly permitted!
