President's Address 2024

Roz Briggs, the President of the Society will launch her term on the 5th September with the President’s address.

Roz will touch on a number of aspects of the Society’s 2024-2026 Strategy including our commitment to serving the Public Interest.

One area of focus is how the Society can lead thinking and potential pension reform to best serve individuals as they invest and draw on their retirement savings.  In this vein we will be joined by two leading UK actuaries,  Hilary Salt and Derek Benstead, who played a key part in the introduction of legislation to facilitate collective defined contribution schemes (a method of smoothing retirement benefits) in the UK.  This legislation, together with wider pensions reform envisaged in the UK, provides significant food for thought for how we should develop our thinking for Irish plans.

Hilary and Derek will start the evening by telling us about their journey after which Roz will host a Q&A session. She will then move on to the traditional President’s Address.

The address will be followed by a drinks and canapé reception to allow members connect as the new term starts.

If you intend to come along, please make your reservation by cob, Friday 30th August, as this will help us with confirming details to the venue. If you are new to the profession or to the Society and don’t know others going along, we would be happy to arrange for someone to connect with you on arrival…..please email info@actuaries.ie if you would like this.
