Webinar: Women in Stem: An Introduction

The Society's Recent Qualifiers Committee has organized a webinar ‘Women in Stem: An Introduction’ which will take place on Thursday, 23rd November at 3.00 pm - 5.00 pm.
This webinar is aimed at females in third level education who are starting to consider their career options, have an interest in pursuing a career in STEM and would like to learn more. The webinar will cover a varied range of compelling careers in STEM and will include a coaching session focusing on personal brand and the skillset required for a corporate role in STEM. There will also be a presentation from the SAI Gender Pipeline Working Group and a session on the work of the Inspiring Girls charity.
NB: As a security measure, there is a two-step registration process before you receive the link to join any webinar. The first step is to register your interest in attending a webinar by making a reservation for an event via the Society’s website. You will receive a link to then register via the Zoom platform. It is after this second registration step that you will receive the link to join the webinar.

Grainne MacRory is the Commercial Team manager for Standard Life International, a part of the Phoenix Group. Her role includes pricing for both domestic and International business. Gráinne works closely with the SAI and is currently a member of the SAI Gender Pipeline Working Group.
Kate Bell is a member of the SAI Gender Pipeline Working Group. She worked for a large life insurer and qualified as an actuary in South Africa before moving to Dublin last year to join the WTW Life Insurance Consulting team. Kate’s current BAU is to support on regular valuations and risk management for clients with outsourced Actuarial Functions and Chief Risk Officer roles. Being South African, she speaks Afrikaans.
Samreen Asif is the Head of Actuarial Function for MetLife Europe. In her role she is responsible for the Solvency II actuarial valuation of liabilities and advises the Board of MetLife Europe on actuarial matters. With nearly 20 years of experience, Samreen has lived and worked in 5 different countries and has held several leadership roles. Samreen leads the Actuarial women’s business network globally across MetLife and is passionate about diversity and inclusion in the workplace.
