The recording of this webinar is available on actuview, here.

The Society’s Diversity and Inclusion Mission Statement outlines the Society’s aim to create a culture of inclusion and growth for members, recognizing and respecting our difference in terms of backgrounds, beliefs, life experience, perspectives, personality and skills. A number of events have already been organized by the D&I committee on topics such as mental health, the experience of female actuaries, PRIDE, unconscious bias training, and member surveys on D&I.

The Society’s membership has become increasingly diverse over the past several years, with actuaries and actuarial students from international backgrounds coming to work and live in Ireland. While nationality and nationalism are very personal and fluid concepts, a recent survey conducted by the Society showed that c. 15% of the survey respondents did not identify their ethnicity as being Irish.

United Nations Day is celebrated on 24th October each year as a reminder of the importance of diversity, equality and unity.

Our next event will mark United Nations Day and will look at some current topics such as Covid, Data Analytics, and broader industry developments through a global lens, and how this compares and contrasts to how these topics are approached in Ireland. We will be joined by a very global panel of actuaries practicing in Ireland.
