This session is a follow-on from the report of the “Retirement Actuary of the Future” working party and will involve speakers from both the pensions industry and life insurance.

As more and more DB schemes close to future accrual and with mandatory retirement saving on the horizon, there will be an increasing population holding DC account balances at the point of retirement, many of whom will be making pension savings for the first time. This event will therefore consider:

a. The different types of retiree, their retirement account balances, and their wants and needs

b. The Life products that might therefore be desired by future retirees, plus any impediments to their roll-out in Ireland

The presentations will also consider the current scale of State benefits provided to retirees, the impact this might have on retirement decisions
