Analysing Pension Policy

Reforms of pensions systems are high on the agenda across the developed world. This conference brings together research which helps to shed light on the complex and long-term effects of pension reforms in the Irish context.

Up-to-date international evidence on pension issues is presented by Ed Whitehouse of the OECD. Justin van de Ven reviews selected issues in a UK context, drawing on the dynamic microsimulation model of the National Institute of Economic and Social Research. Tim Callan (ESRI) and Justin van de Ven (NIESR) describe how a similar model has been constructed for Ireland, and present preliminary results based on this model. Gerry Hughes (TCD) looks at whether the current tax treatment of the pensions of executive directors and of employees constitutes a level playing field.

Attendance at the conference is free, and all those interested in pension policy issues are invited to participate. To register, click here.
