Pensions update for Scheme Actuaries

Update from the Pensions Committee on current issues, in particular:

• SAI Demography Committee’s Report on Mortality Assumptions for Pension Schemes

This Report will be published before the meeting.  It will present information on mortality trends and recommendations on mortality assumptions that will be directly relevant to scheme actuaries’ work in accounting and funding, and to the ASP Pen-12 transfer value basis and the statutory funding standard.

• Discussions with government on funding challenges

Update on recent discussions between the Society and the Department of Social & Family Affairs and the Pensions Board on funding challenges, both long-term and short-term.
